In a time when investments and collections are falling to bill paying, it has become a requirement to find a reasonable alternative to paying “full retail”. So enters the “auction approach” to acquiring additions to my collection. Not only are auctions economical, they are exciting and present me with an opportunity to share my passion for model railroading with my family and my friend, but to meet other people who share my passion. Even if the auction leaves me with my mouth open thinking “I can’t believe it went that high!”, the experience is enjoyable. Likewise, it is exciting to plan, save and search for those items which will make my collection complete- which expands on a daily basis! I always find new treasures that I didn’t know exist and find it exciting to reseach the background of those items. In short, this is an exciting hobby with many rewards.
